Jamie has been involved with swimming since he was two years old and his mother saw the 1972 summer Olympics when Mark Spitz won seven gold medals in Munich, Germany. He has been swimming competitively since he was 5 years old and has been a member of the Wood Dale Water Rat Swim Team, the Elk Grove Swim Club, the Fenton High School Men's Swimming Team, and the Illinois Benedictine Men's Swim Team for two years in college. In high school Jamie played football, wrestled, swam, ran cross country and track and field. He went on to compete in Cross Country and Track and Field, as well as two years of swimming, at Illinois Benedictine University where he was a provisional national qualifier in 800 meter run at Division III in 1991. He graduated with a Bachelors in Literature and Communication in 1992 from Illinois Benedictine University. He is currently a special education teacher at Buffalo Grove High School where he has taught for the past 16 years and currently serves as the Head Cross Country Coach, the Head Swimming Coach, and the Head Track and Field Coach.

Jamie began his professional swim coach career in 1989 working with the Wood Dale Water Rats as the Head Swim Coach where he stayed from 1989 to 1992. He then was associate head age group coach at Elk Grove Swim Club from 1992 to 1995. After that he did stints as the head coach with the Itasca Dolphin Swim Club from 1996 to 1998 in the summers and as the head coach of the Buffalo Grove Hurricane Swim Club in the winters from 1996 to 1998. After 1998, Jamie formed District Unified Swim Team through High School District 214 with other district coaches where he coached until this year. For the last four summers Jamie has been the head coach of the Farmington Flyers Swim Team and been club manager as well. He looks forward to new swimmers and a new season in 2009 and summer fun with the Farmington Family.
